Spring Series Sponsored by:Howard Co Logo Black

We'll cram two rides into this one. A farewell ride for the Hyde Park Cafe, and the famous cheese gems, and also a pre-season get together for the north island series.

We'll head north to Waikanae on the old highway, then down Te Moana and through Peka Peka, up to Te Hapua, Morrison and Te Horo Beach. A quick scoot up Sims Rd and then back towards Hyde Park. We'll cruise past (this time) and cross the state highway. We'll do the School Rd, Houtere Cross, Otaki Gorge Rd and loop round old Houtere and head back to School Rd. Back over the state highway and this time we'll stop at Hyde Park. From there its home via Pukenamu and Morrison.. At both Te Hapua and School Rd, the roadworks have given us exciting gravel ice rink patches to negotiate, the last time I rode through,  so be careful there.

I stuck to my long Shannon Foxton ride north plan last week in pretty ideal conditions - sunny, little wind. The new Whirokino bridge is a big improvement on the old trestle, now having an actual shoulder, albeit a little narrow and decorated with big sunken drainage grates. I'll probably try and fit this route in again between now and the north island series if people are keen. Possibly with an earlier start, now the mornings are lighter.
