Waikawa Beach Return via Te horo and Otaki Racecourse

Meet Sunday at Farmers, 7.55am

Usually a popular ride, staying as a group and avoiding the main road where we can, diverting through Peka Peka, Te Horo and the back of Manakau.

Its a good ride down to the beach from Manakau and we usually get up a good rotation going down there! Plus there is an optional sprint on the way back at School Road through Te Horo.

Good to see some new riders on Tuesday at Southwards, all are welcome!

Coffee at Long Beach in Waikanae!

Waikawa Beach return

We are going to try again for this ride, as this week the route was changed on the morning of the ride. I've got to say I'm doing my best here to keep everyone happy and I dont appreciate the ride being hijacked at the last minute on the Sunday mornings. About a year ago there was nobody to lead the group and me and Tony were the two people to put their hands up, in order to keep it going.

With the club in mind, I'm trying to get the numbers up and trying to keep the rides friendly and doable for people in terms of the time commitment and the distances of the rides. Im thinking of keeping them between 80km and 100km and then after a coffee there is the option of more kms each week. I'm always open to suggestions and flexible but please let me know by Wednesdays if you have suggestions so we are not left looking like lemons on Sunday mornings, when we have new riders, and many of us have planned for a certain ride, etc.

I'd appreciate your support on this and if we have anybody who wishes to share leadership of the group that would be great, as Tony is unavailable at the moment, and there a few races coming up which will mean I cant do every Sunday through t around March.

In general its an enjoyable group to ride with, I think we just need to be more group conscious and welcoming to new people.

Cheers

Lee
