There were only 5 of us due to the fact that most people were away at the Featherston Funride..

But great group - and a tough but interesting course (thanks to Glynis's route planning).

The plan was Paekak Hill, Moonshine, Wallaceville, Whitemans Valley, Haywards, Grays Road, Plimmerton and Airley Road.  Glynis sent me an outline of this plan and I stupidly suggested tagging on a couple of extra climbs in Plimmerton - one being a wall called The Track..   What was I thinking!???

An early puncture for Mike on Paekak meant I could go on ahead and climb the hill without slowing the group up.   Our only mechanical of the day.

We rode a steady pace the whole way with only a couple of stops at hill tops to wait on the stragglers... (me!)

Also had a wee stop at the bottom of Blue Mountains to check the rugby score...  Bad luck England...

If you haven't been up The track in Plimmerton - check it out.   Very steep in places but the view is totally worth it..   I missed a great photo opportunity at the start of the descent with the riders standing out with the Porirua Harbour below them.  Oh well - I'll have to head up there again...

The 5 of us made it back tired but happy to No 6 in Raumati where a couple of us indulged a bit to restock the energy levels...

This week - there is The Epic on Saturday that I know a few people will be doing.   And the plan on Sunday is to do a Shannon/Foxton ride..  This is 140km and will be done at a reasonable clip.  Bob will be supporting in his car so there is the opportunity to throw some gear/drink/food in his car to lighten the load.

Whatever your plans this weekend..  Ride safe..

Cheers

Adrian
