Well, that was a fun night of racing!

It's great to see people buzzing after competing hard against each other.

And great competition there was too, across the grades...

Good to see Emma Wilkinson back, and riding hard.  She put in a fantastic sprint to take the D grade.   Well done Emma.

The C grade was a good sized bunch and saw the pace on from start to finish.  We'd like to extend a big welcome to Ethan Brind who raced his first race tonight, and he took to it like a fish to water, sitting on the front for much of the 2nd half of the race.   Guile took over at the end of the race however, with John Pratt taking the win from Des Batten and John Rowlinson, with Ethan taking a very creditable 4th.

B Grade was a fast old race with lots of people willing to push forward off the front which kept the pace high.   It was wonderful to see Grace Saywell showing her impressive acceleration to take out the win.   That's been coming for a while now. Top stuff Grace :)     Mark Humphries placed 2nd in his first race back for a while and Ryan Gartner held strong in 3rd...

Dave Downer nearly took out the A grade race - tantalisingly close after showing a clean pair of heels with 2 laps to go.  Unfortunately for Dave, the fast legs of bunch managed to reel him in with half a lap to go.   Nice win by a sharp looking Tristan Radcliff from Cam Jones and Mike Proudfoot.  Dave's attack strung out the bunch and it was good to see him hang on for 5th, just behind a strong riding Neil Harwood.

Let's do it all again next week :)

Next week will be our last at Southwards for the summer.  We're going to throw a couple of different events at you in addition to a shortened regular race program.  So with that in mind can we ask the A and B grades to be there slightly earlier than they normally would as we'll run shortened regular rides so we can fit in some short, fun but competitive extra races in between things.

The week after that we'll be running a Summer Series with 5 races on the new circuit at Nga Manu.   It'll be graded racing with points up for grabs each week and an overall victor in each grade awarded at the end of the series.  I'll publish the details of that event shortly, so keep coming back and checking for that.

Well done everyone.
