Twilight Series Sponsored by:bikingmad

We're about to start our Summer Series of twilight races, held every Tuesday nights (except over Christmas break) during daylight savings.  And, we're delighted to announce our series sponsor is Biking Mad in the Raumati village, the best little bike shop on the Coast! https://www.bikingmad.nz/  See Andrew and Grant for all your bikey-needs and flash your KCC membership card to receive 10% discount off all stock and services!!

We start off this Tuesday night with a block of three handicap races on the quiet and flat Nga Manu circuit.  That's the 5th, 12th and 12th October.  Handicap racing is all about teamwork and is a lot of fun; it's a great introduction to racing. Your bunch works together to stay away from the other bunches, as you try to catch the bunch ahead. The handicapper determines the time gaps between bunches to make it a great challenge for everyone. Small can beat big!  A D-grade that works together will beat an A-grade that doesn't!!  If C-grade catches D-grade, then the first C-grade rider over the line wins - it's like playing on bikes!  And, it's a great way to improve your fitness and riding.

For those who want to 'play' but don't want to race, come and join the Social Circuit. Introduced last year, this is a social bunch ride of 6 laps, with an optional 'hot-lap' to finish, if you wish! Perfect for beginners and those returning to fitness. Graded riders must not interfere with the Social Circuit ride.

Everyone is welcome. Entry cost: $5 KCC members, $10 non-members

Registration opens at 6pm, the Social Circuit starts at 6.10pm, and handicap races will be away at around 6.40pm.

Then, we will finish this block at Nga Manu with a one-off fun novelty event on the 26th October, before moving to the Southwards Car Museum carpark for a block of three graded races* on this 1km circuit.  The graded races will be on the 2nd, 9th and 16th November at Southwards.  Again, the Social Circuit will be before the races start.

And then, we move back to Nga Manu for another block of three handicap races on the 23rd, 30th Nov and 7th Dec, before finishing for another fun novelty event on the 14th Dec as the finale to the pre-Christmas summer twilight season.

Everyone is welcome to all events, and the entry cost is always: $5 KCC members, $10 non-members
