Kapiti Cycling Club Southwards Circuit Series – Tuesday 24th November 2020
The evening weather proved to be ideal for the start of the Southwards Circuit events. The popular and safe circuit on closed roads within the Car Museum grounds always provides exciting racing, Tuesday evening did not disappoint.
The first event, the Social Circuit over 20 minutes plus two laps was well attended with a mix of youngsters and not so young youngsters. The steady pace for the 20 minutes kept the group alert whilst enjoying this new experience at Southwards. The final two laps resulted in Liam taking out the sprint.
The combined C/D Grade over 25 minutes plus 2 laps were a hotly contested affair, Ewan Mason and Alex Bissell eventually lapped the field with a strong display. An incredibly determined Ewan sprinted for a very impressive win over Alex. Young Alex Arthur rode a determined race to take out rider of the event award.

The final event of the evening, the combined A/B race over 30 minutes plus 2 laps lived up to its status, the eight starters soon settled into a fast pace led by Katie and Miles. A break soon developed with Katie, Miles and Gary pulling away from the remainder. The pace was hectic as Katie and Miles determined to out do each other. Eventually lapping the field, the trio never let up as Miles and Katie entered the final laps with Miles storming away to take a well deserved win over a very competitive Katie. Excellent race.
