Kapiti Cycling Club - Nga Manu Race Series

The final race in the four-race series on the fast and traffic free course was another hotly contested affair. Despite the depleted field the racing was full on throughout the 40 minutes plus two lap format. An early attack by Tristan resulted in a furious chase as the peloton realised the danger. The pace remained aggressive with a determined number keen to shake out a few riders. As the race approached the final laps, Tristan suffered an untimely puncture taking him out of the picture. The final sprint was a classic early attack by Dwight gaining an unbeatable lead, Greg lead in the tight pack for second place with Lee on his heals.

Once again, many thanks to Andrew, Tristan and Adrian for the course set up and take down. It is appreciated that the course take down was also assisted by riders. Thanks also to Glynis for marshalling.

Despite Nga Manu being an excellent course, safe, fast and traffic free, the numbers have been disappointing and does not reflect the strength of the club. Tuesday night racing provides an excellent quality workout that is difficult to replicate. This type of event is suitable for all abilities with grades from newcomers to the hard core, please support the events either by riding or volunteering to marshal.

The events continue next Tuesday on the Emerald Glen course, another quiet and safe course.
