It was great to see another good increase in numbers at racing last night - word must be getting out how much of a blast the Crit racing is. The conditions were perfect for racing and there was plenty of action to enjoy.

Greg did a great job as race manager and even added in an evil twist for the last races of 2016. There were 2 sprint laps within each race, with points up for grab for the Summer Series. There were even some cool prizes for the winners of the races and the sprint laps as part of our Xmas get together. Andy Ross managed the traffic with skill and Doug Barrett did a mean job as the sausage chef on the barbecue.

Thanks to PlaceMakers Kapiti for loaning us their BBQ trailer for the evening - it was much appreciated. Also thanks to our Summer Series sponsor, Avantiplus Kapiti Coast, who gave us a super deal on our prizes for the evening

If anyone took any photos of the racing, please let us have them, and we will put them up for all to see

Remember that racing recommences at Southwards on January 10th, and you will need to be a licenced 2017 member of a Cycling Club (preferably ours of course!) to race, or having your first few goes at racing (see trial period below).

Thanks again to those who are pre-entering, it’s going well. Simply email name and preferred grade to Club Captain, Doug Barrett at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  before Tuesday mid-day.

If not pre-registered, please to do this at the club trailer at Southwards well before your race start.

Start time for adult grades will be 6.00PM with kids racing from 5.00PM. There are four grades, from Beginner through to A Grade, with the lower grade races starting first. This format gives those in the higher grades who have to travel from Wellington a bit more time to get there and warmed up before your start.

The cost to race is $5 for a licenced rider and $15 for a non-licensed rider trying racing out on the three race trial period. Every rider will be asked to produce their licence so remember to bring it with you.

If you are licenced for 2016, you are covered until 31 December 2016, so it’s time to think about your renewal for 2017. For complete new-comers you have a three race ‘trial period’ before deciding whether you would like to become part of the club, after which you must be licensed. Click HERE to go to our ‘Join Us’ page for more information and to renew your licence.
